About Me

My name is Elisha Lau, an online student at Biola University where I am currently studying Business Management. I love the variety of subjects in my Major, as they engage the desire for a varied learning diet.

My background is an international one. I've split my childhood growing up over five countries. After being born in Singapore, I've lived in the UK, Dubai, Malaysia, and the Philippines. This has cultivated an international viewpoint from which I can understand multiple perspectives better.

My focus is on the future, leading me to explore the forefront of technology and ideas. One of these technologies is Artificial Intelligence (AI). I strongly believe in correct AI usage, and during my high-school, I wrote a research paper exploring the uses and future development of AI. Currently, I have learned to use AI for more than just simple words and images: I've used it to find resources that I can cite (according to proper formatting and standards), program custom code for various uses, and as a personal tutor that can explain concepts in depth. I am excited to use AI more effectively and in new ways as I enter progress through college and enter the workforce.

My Education

Highschool - Wellspring Christian Family Schools

Going through high school, I was homeschooled. Nevertheless, I was able to participate in various organizations and interact with my peers.

College - Biola University

Coming to Biola was something I did not expect, but God eventually led me to this fantastic college.

Throughout high school, I was active in the literature club, sitting on its leading committee for three and a half years. During that time, I was able to help with both the upkeep and improvement of the organization, even organizing a large (around 50 person) in-person event, just post-Covid 19, acting as a speaker and competition judge. At the same time, I kept up a high GPA and SAT score, allowing me to qualify easily for many universities.

Through college, I hope to maintain a similar pacing in both grades and extracurricular activities. With my GPA currently under the belt, at a high level, volunteering for non-profit and church organizations and events has become a new priority. At the same time, I hope to intern and also work part-time in various companies in order to increase my knowledge and active experience

I am passionate about many things. over the years, my interests have ranged from writing novels, to racing, to cryptocurrency. I've done a short stint writing books, karted a little, and have learned a little about how financial markets work.

I value experience and just doing the thing. Thus, when I had the opportunity to do these things that interested me, I jumped right in, digesting information about them and then doing them.

Currently, with real-life priorities in play, my interests have a more reserved role. I still hope to one day really understand the finance market, to one day write a novel, and to one day race in a world series. There is a possibility that any of these interests may become a career - working in the financial industry, writing books, or racing for a living, are all possibilities.
